Because you can't make this crap up!!!!!

This morning I needed to run to town to get my salad fixin's for the coming week. When I walked out the door, I noticed I hadn't brought in the trash can last night so I grumbled & headed for the gate, propped it open, grabbed the trash can, and started rolling it back down the driveway toward the gate.

And all heck broke loose! There was an ear-splitting roar from the woods across the road & I heard something BIG charging my direction. I flung the trash can & dashed back thru the gate, slamming it shut behind me. The dogs were going absolutely nuts & I was trying to get them into the house (with no success) when the BEAST emerged from the woods onto the road.

It was someone's cow. Big nice lookin' cow too. Or maybe a bull. I'm not sure. I wasn't looking at that end - I was more concerned with the horns on it's head & hoping it didn't decide to come thru the fence.

It was big enough that it scared the dogs too. Chicken sh**s. They took one look, tucked tail, and ran for the house, leaving me standing there staring at this pissed off behemoth that wanted nothing more than kick my hiney! It kept stomping around the driveway, glaring at me, and occasionally letting loose with a loud bellow while I backed across the drive, down the walk, and into the house....

Needless to say, I called for help. Not 911. The non-emergency line who put me in touch with Animal Control who couldn't stop laughing. They promised to come out & I hung up. Looked back out the window and the cow was GONE! Nowhere to be seen.

I cautiously snuck back out the door (with gun in hand this time) and worked my way back up to where I could see both across the road & up and down it. No cow to be seen. Go figure. Called back & told 'em the cow had disappeared. They probably think I'm nuts.

Gave it another 15-20 minutes with no sightings and quickly & cautiously got the car thru the gate & ran on into town for my groceries.

Like I said, you can't make this stuff up. I ***LOVE*** living in the country but being charged by a pissed off cow that apparenlty has the ability to appear & disappear at will was NOT on my calendar for this morning!!!
