Sebastian had his annual vet exam/shots this morning. All good there. Got to see Dr. G - yay!!! He's my favorite of the 4 full time vets there. He was asking if I'd noticed any behavioural changes since John's passing. Said many shepherds become more protective of their "moms" if they become a window. And yeah, I'd already noticed that. My boy keeps track of me at all times - he won't even go to bed until I go. He stays in the hall between me & the front door and then when I'm ready to go to bed, he leads me down the hall and stops off in his room while I go on into mine....
Anyway, he's all good for another year.
Then I came home & looked at the yard & then pulld up the forecast for the rest of the week. And got the zero turn out... I'm still scared of that thing but you've gotta do what you've gotta do!!!
Mowed the whole front yard again. Side yard - and that hill scares me half to death even going straight up & down! Behind the house. Above the flower bed.
Then I eyeballed behind the garage & went for it... I managed to do about 75-80% of it. Panicked & noped out on the other 15-20%. Someone else can do those areas or they can just wait until I get better at using the zero turn. (This was just my 2nd time out on it alone.)
Then I did a loop around the bottom & the graves & the plum trees & the iris beds before coming back up.
I need lunch now. And a shower. And maybe a nap...
In other news:
Carpenter bees are everywhere in spite of all the treatments. Bug guy will be here AGAIN Friday night to treat for them one more time. Darned things were chasing me all over on the mower!
Same for the highly aggressive wasps taking up residence on the front porch. This will make 2 years that they've been trying to get rid of them - problem is that the nests are so far into the siding & soffits that they can't get the insecticide all the way to them....
The roof guy will be here next week (day depending on weather) to fix the roof of the deck after about a 6'x10' section pulled loose and slide down during one of the wind storms we've had recently. He'll also be putting put snow/ice stops on the garage for me too after the big snow/ice avalanche in front of the main garage door in February!
The driveway guy stopped by to confirm that I still want the driveway fixed when the weather allows. Yes! It hasn't been sealed in probably 10 years and the asphalt is starting to degrade - it needs help!
My new couch finally left the repair shop & will be delivered Tuesday. Fingers crossed! I'll honestly cry if anything happens this time... The old one is so worn out & the whole center section is broken...
Freddie goes to have his nails trimmed tomorrow. Hopefully I have time to run him home before Owen's t-ball game.
Sebastian goes for grooming Friday. Bath, brush, trim, nails... the whole 9 yards.
Saturday, I have ladies group at the club. Hope we're still on the pistol range! Then a meeting to chart out a cleaning schedule, breakfast & lunch catering plans for the international silhouette shoot we're hosting this summer, and preliminary planning for the Women on Target event we'll be hosting in the fall (since we got the grants from the NRA to help offset the costs - with the club board agreeing to cover the rest).
And Sunday I'm supposed to have Easter dinner at Kate's house with them and Matt's family. T & Meg are bailing out on this one and heading to Indianapolis. I may bail out and head for EKY!!!!!!
Monday, I have to make a grocery run for the club. We're serving Easter dinner next Thursday night. I'm doing the desserts (as usual) plus a few side dishes: Hummingbird Cake, Jam Cake, sheet pan cheesecake with cherry topping, creamed corn, and a pudding fruit salad.
That means I'll be cookign here at the house most of the day Wednesday and then assisting with the rest of the cooking at the club on Thursday before serving up dinner (and selling t-shirts & representing the Ladies Group) at the meeting after the dinner.
I tell ya.... I couldn't be busier if I tried!!!!!
