Over the years, I've watched the husband start verbal fights with just about everyone out there. He's even been named in several defamation lawsuits & banned from several of the groups. I've watched the wife STEAL stuff from the kitchen supplies over & over again.
And until last night, I'd kept my mouth shut but, y'all, it's open now & I turned my inner redneck loose!!!!
See, I donated a set of Revereware to the club kitchen. $$$ I've switched to vintage Club Aluminum here at the house and it was just gathering dust so I donated it to the kitchen committee. We're in the process of getting a nice pot rack for the club kitchen & they have handles that would enable them to be hung AND they're far superior to all the yard sale crap we've been makign do with.
Last night, the wife decided she wanted the biggest pot because it was nicer than what she had at home. I told her "sorry", that I was donating it to the CLUB not to anyone who wanted it. At the end of the night when one of the guys & I were cleaning up the kitchen, guess what was missing??? The big pot was GONE.
And this was right after she stormed out, yelling "I hope you're happy now" after she lost the club cleaning contract to the ladies' group I'm part of. (It's like $1100 a year that we're going to use to provide women-only events for ladies at the club. It'll also keep the club building & lot more hygienic - we've been having to go in early before each meeting & disinfect the kitchen before we could even start cooking. And I couldn't tell you the last time the floor in there would have been mopped! It's GROSS!!!)
When I realized the pot was missing, I saw RED. Literally. (I didn't know that was actually a real thing... but it is!!!)
And I headed straight to the board, tellng them about the latest in an ongoing history of "theft of club property." The President called her IMMEDIATELY & she's tried saying she was going to bring one from her kitchen to replace it. That didn't fly. She's been given until the end of the weekend to return the pot AND has been barred from the kitchen going foreward.
And this same couple? They started blowing up the head of the kitchen crew's phone at 6am this morning, claiming the new club Vice President was going to make her get rid of our 8' prep table. That she heard him telling the club Secretary that & that "we need to do something about him." (Have I mentioned that they're also racist & the new club VP is Asian??
So the Chief Cook is trying to get to work, they're blowing up her phone & she ended up calling me (before 7am) and asked me to find out what the heck is going on.... Then I had to call the club Secretary (who's one of my favorite people, one of the Lawrenceburg Liquor Ladies who are planning a lot of wine-based shenanigans when it gets warmer) to find out exactly what was said. And she has no idea what this woman is talking about. The VP never said ANYTHING about our prep table. The only discussion about the kitchen at all was the part I was involved in about getting a pot rack installed.
We're all guessing they're trying to start slinging shit now because she lost the contract last night. I've warned the other ladies that we need to cover-our-asses and fully document everything we do in terms of cleaning at the club (sign off & date a checklist each time, take photos, etc.) because she & her husband WILL sabotage us if they get half a chance. I have no doubt.
Gonna be tough in the kitchen for a few months without her but, honestly, she didn't do much anyway. And she's a lousy cook. But there were only 5 of us and she's gone, the head of the kitchen crew is out until May (she's a CPA and putting in 80 hour weeks until after taxes), and the youngest member of our crew (and our clean up guy) has colon cancer and having surgery to remove part of his colon and a bunch of lymph nodes Monday morning.
That only leaves 2 of us cooking for April - our big Easter dinner. I may have to recruit a little help to get thru that one. We'll be serving up ham, two or three casseroles, deviled eggs, and at least 3 different desserts. And based on last night, a lot of the new members are taking their membership seriously & actually coming to meetings. Instead of the 20 or so that usually show up, I'm estimating we had approx 50 people last night.
