ANYWAY, Kate & Matt were supposed to help me move the old stuff out last weekend. Moving the couch to the deck to be gotten rid of & the loveseat back to my office until I assume it's safe to take it to the den in the basement. As usual, they didn't show. And wouldn't answer their phones. What's new?
So I put out an emergency SOS to local friends and a friend, her husband, and son came last night & moved them for me. That let me clean the floors & get everythign ready for the new ones to be delivered.
All was going good. I was getting updates that they were on their way. They managed to get their big truck into the driveway, checked where they were supposed to put them, and started unboxing...
AND THE COUCH WAS BROKEN. One corner completely shattered where the legs are supposed to attach.
I wanted to cry. I've waited 2 and a half months since ordering for these!
Many phone calls & texts later (complicated by the fact that none of the delivery guys spoke a lick of English), they brought the loveseat in for me & are taking the couch back to the warehouse/factory/whatever. I should find out Saturday how long it will take to get it repaired/replaced. (I'm not a carpenter by any means but at a glance, they may be able to just replace those sections of wood. Fingers crossed!)
Oh and I managed to communicate by hand signals & waving a $20 bill in their faces to get the guys to bring my old couch back in off the deck so there's not a big empty spot in the living room...
On the positive side, I absolutely LOVE the loveseat. T had given me a bad time over the fabric I chose but it's gorgeous and shouldn't show dog dirt/fur too bad. I was questioning the fabric I'd chosen for the pillows as well but it matches surprisingly well. (I'd wanted something red/black/gray to match my fleece blankets but they literally HAD nothing in all their umpteen books of fabric choices with that combination.)
In the meantime, just call it the "living room of mismatched furniture"!
