Yep. I just had one of those "what the he** was I thinking?" moments.
So.... when Mrs. Rustic Rooster was here, we were commiserating about dealing with dog fur. (She's mom to a darling doodle named Reba and a not-quite-right-in-the-head mini Aussie named Maverick.) And she said that once a week, she uses a leaf blower to blow the fur out from underneath cabinets & furniture that she can't move. I thought that sounded pretty slick....
So a bit ago, I was in the basement & happened to look over at the leaf blower. LIGHT BULB MOMENT!!!!! I grabbed it & headed upstairs.
Now let me preface this by saying that there's an antique secretary desk with a hutch on top of it that sits by the living room door. It hasn't been moved in..... oh maybe 10 years. Possibly longer. I reach under it as far as the mop & broom will go but that's it.
So I walked over by the door, powered up the leaf blower & pointed it at the secretary and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!
Do you have any idea how much fur can accumulate in a relatively small area over that much time???? Now imagine hitting it with the equivalent of tornado force winds. It didn't just BLOW out of there - it ERUPTED!!!
At first it looked like a grungy gray blizzard had struck my living room... and then the "snow" start wafting around like Bigfoot was blowing his coat.... and settling in big rabbit-sized balls all around the room. Including on the floor, on the furniture, and even on top of the ceiling fan (which Thank God was turned off).
I've spent the better part of the last hour running the robovac, sucking up fur off of furniture & stuff with a hand vacuum, and dusting.
And did I mention that fur didn't just stay in the living room? I saw some drift past me in the kitchen a few minutes ago so I guess I'm going to have to clean in there too.
I love my dogs. I really do.
