Hubby always dealt with winter-related stuff. Getting the generator started, tending it, running power lines to the freezers, running the kerosene heater for warmth, using the tractor to clear the driveway, etc.

I've NEVER started a generator in my entire life. Or a kerosene heater. And I sure don't know how to use the tractor.

They're forecasting potentially 18" here starting Saturday followed by a week of extremely low temps. If we lose electric, I'm screwed because I'll have no heat & won't ge able to get out. I told Sebastian he may get cuddled whether he likes it or not!!!!

My goal for today and tomorrow is to gather up the propane heater I used in my hunting blind & all the bottles of propane I can find (plus the extra grill tanks in the garage IF I can find the distribution pole hubby had for them), try to find the kerosene heater and see if I can figure it out, make sure I have gas for the generator & try to start it, fill the old oil lamps, locate all my flash lights, charge all my power packs, and see if I can shove things around so I can reach the plugs for the freezers...

Friday, I have to get to town to meet with my lawyer at 8:30 & will then pick up any last minute items I can think of. Then I'll get home & if the forecast hasn't improved, I'll start closing blinds, running extension cords, etc.

Hoping for the best but expecting the worst....

p.s. If we get that much snow with the temps expected next week, I'll be stuck here at the house for at least 7-10 days, perhaps longer, unless I can find soemone to come shovel out my driveway. :-(
