Since then I'd noticed that the pressure on a different tire was always a few pounds lower than the others. I assumed it was just what it was & didn't worry about it. (Mistake #1)
Was all the way over in Versailles, came out, got into my car & "you have a low tire" alerts started going off like crazy. It was over 10# below the other tires. Uh oh.
Decided to try and limp it on home (and let me tell ya, driving an AWD with a low tire is one heckuvan ADVENTURE!). Called the tire shop & was informed that they were too busy to look at it today, that I'd have to have someone take it off, and drop it off with them and they'd get to it when they could. Well POO on that! I don't exactly have anyone to swap it out & I don't want to put another incident on my insurance.
So I called another tire place in town that I'd heard of but never been to. They were like "Sure, bring it on in!" I limped that way down the parkway, trying to stay on the road AND not get run over in the process. Got there & they pulled the tire. Huh. It already had a badly done patch iin it. (Remember this was a different tire or so I thought.)
Turns out, the 1st place didn't even plug it and did a half-assed job of patching the inside AND had rotated the tire to the rear without me knowing! The young man working on it took me back to the shop & showed me exactly what he was talking about. He was pissed - but not nearly as much as I was.
Anyway, another $50 later, I presumably have a fully repaired tire. And I'm never going back to the place John always used!!!!
