Since I can't hunt the farm this year (maybe never again unless T decides to get back into it), I let my nephew's wife's brother take his two kids out there.

And it couldn't have gone better!!!!! He took his son first during the early youth rifle hunt & this is what happened:



Then it was his daughter's turn. She took a MONSTER of a buck a few years ago with a rifle so she was determined to get a deer this year with a bow. She had hoped to use a compound bow but lacked the strength to draw it heavy enough for an ethical hunt so he dad rounded up a crossbow from somewhere for her to use. And.... she used it all right, bright & early Sunday morning!!!



I wish you could see their smiles!!!! (But since they're not my kids, I blocked their faces...)

It kills me to not be out in the woods but a) I can't do it alone. And b) Right now I've still got quite a bit of venison on hand. By next year, I'll have to either make arrangements to hunt or to have someone get me a deer or two....
