Just trying to understand the terminology was the hardest. I'd read the instructions on how to set them up & then have to go to Google to figure out what the instructions were talking about! lol!

And some of the apps are more user friendly than others. I'm still not completely clear on how this Alexa thing works... but I can ask it questions like "What is the weather going to be like today?" and it answers me! I can tell it to turn smart plugs off & on. I can tell it to play specific musics (songs, artists, or genres). It's supposed to even work with my robot vacuum but I haven't figured out the exact commands for that though.

And what absolutely KILLS ME as a former TECHNICAL WRITER is that there's no documentation ANYWHERE nowadays. Just vague descriptions... And I haven't seen a physical user's manual in years. This morning, I was trying to figure out something on the new washing machine (really basic - how to clean the foam filters) and it took me 10 minutes to find the instructions online. If I had a user's manual, I'd just open it up & flip to the section that tells you how to do routine maintenance...

After losing 3 freezers in the past 6 years, I think the freezer alarms will be worth it. And they seem to work. I'd forgotten the freezer on top of the basement frig was self-defrosting & it reminded me with alarms going off everywhere at 2:30 this morning!!!!!
