A .22 is a little tiny bullet that makes little tiny holes. And they're not much good in a self-defense situation unless you hit something vital. That's why I'd like to become more proficient with either my 9mm or potentially a .380 (although a .380 would mean I'd have to buy another pistol and I really don't want to buy any more).
And I'm getting better with pistols - I just still have a long way to go. My friend's husband (who just happens to be president of the club) has the patience of a saint working with me!!!!
Hopefully when we move up to the shotgun range, he (or someone) can help me improve there as well!
Wish you were nearby - the Ladies Group is open to nonmembers & you'd be more than welcome to jump in! We're hoping to be able to throw a "Women on Target" event next summer. A full day of introductory courses for women to the shooting sports: starting in a classroom with range safety & gun care instruction and then moving to the pistol, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, and archery ranges where every woman gets a chance to shoot and have at least a few minutes of 1 on 1 instruction. The club will provide all of the training, guns/bows, ammunition, and targets.
A similar event is how I became a club member. I went & met the then-president and at the end of the day, I approached him and asked HOW DO I BECOME PART OF THIS????? And he & his wife sponsored me and signed me up on the spot! (Now I'd have to go thru the lottery process and it could take years & years & years to get in....)
