Furthermore, it's a semi auto and I'm more of a revolver kinda girl. Or at least I have been until now.
Once I got past the extremely heavy trigger pull on the semi, it was a BLAST to shoot. First few shots were wobbly but once I got the feel for it, I was ringing steel and knocking over the larger silhouette targets. My last round of 10, I only missed one of the farthest silhouettes and was just barely off the edge of it.
I may have slightly freaked out the guy who was working with me. Due to my arthritis, the longer I try to hold a pistol (or any gun for that matter), the more likely I am to wobble just due to weakness/pain. So... I line up my 1st one (taking a little extra time) and then pow-pow-pow-pow-pow moving from one target on to the next. He wasn't expecting that. I distinctly heard "Wow!" from behind me... and the other ladies clapped for me because they knew this was my first time out with a semi auto.
We've got one more session at the pits before moving up to the shotgun range and I think I'm gonna stick with the semi auto pistol for the last session. And if I have time/energy, I'm going to go out on my own & work with it.
I'm easily good enough for self-defense already but I'm kinda getting the itch to try competition shooting....We'll see.
But before all that I've gotta come up with desserts for Thursday night's spaghetti dinner. Think I'm gonna do peach cobblers and pear mincemeat mini tarts. (I've got close to 40 jars of pear mince that need to be used - more than I'll ever use by myself.)
