The one I grew up in was built to face the railraod and across it & a river, the main road at the time. Only problem was the driveway to get to the house went up the mountain BEHIND it. I grew up thinking everyone entered thru the kitchen!!!!

And my house now? The builders flipped the kitchen & living room so the living room would be able to look out to the fields behind the house. I'm so very thankful that they did BUT... that means that (once again), you enter thru the kitchen! lol!
