Was washing dishes & had set a cast iron skillet inthe oven of my old Frigidaire Flair on low to make sure all the nooks & crannies got dried good. (It hasn't been seasoned & bare iron just loves rust...)
So. Me at sink looking out the window while washing. It in the oven back behind me.
When....
BOOM!!!!!!!!!! Lights & flames flashing everywhere.... Electricity arc'ing across the kitchen.... And eeverything hissing & sizzling like crazy....
Y'all. My dogs learned a few words they hadn't heard before and I made up a few new ones on the spot!!!!!!
The bottom heating element in the Flair exploded. It was still throwing sparks when I figured out what the heck had happened & got it turned off.
I do NOT wanna know what my blood pressure was doing at that point... Nope. Not enough bp meds in the world to knock that down!!!!! For a few seconds, I thought Putin had gone & pushed The Big Red Button!!!!
After I calmed down (it took a while), I wanted to cry... That's a 59 year old stove & they haven't made replacement parts for many years... But thank God for the internet! I found a NEW replacement burner (still in the original packaging) in a vintage stove repair shop in California and it should be here next week. Don't ask what it cost. And keep your fingers crossed that none of the electronics fried when that thing blew....
