Funny one for you since she's going to be a bit older when she comes to you.... My daughter adopted her white GSD when he was 4 months old. And he has NO manners & can be aggressive. When we got Sebastian, he was 4 months old and all we heard out of her was how we were going to be so "screwed" because you can't teach them anything once they're that old, etc.
Guess who is so well-behaved that it's almost scary? Sebastian! He's calm. He's obeys voice commands almost immediately. He's trustworthy. He's everything that her dog isn't.
Heck, Freddie is (generally) more well behaved than her GSD. He's just got that cattle dog crazy streak running thru him along with a very large dose of "I don't give a darn"! But he still (mostly) responds to voice commands & can be trusted to leave a full plate of food alone.
It's more about the OWNER than it is the age of the dog. But you'd never convince her of that!
Have fun with your new girl! And be sure to share her with us! Most of us haven't had a youngster in a long time!!!!
