According to him, every wall in this house is basically screwed & needs to have foundation work and new support beams put in. His rough estimate would be somewhere in the vicinity of $70,000-$80,000.

I CAN'T DO THAT.

Period.

Plus many of the areas he tagged needing repair have been "cracked" since we moved her 36 years ago... If they haven't widened or moved in that amount of time, I'm not gonna worry about the next 20-25 years!!! (And after that, hell probably before that, it won't be my problem anymore...)

So he's working up a written report on the whole house & will also be contacting several contractors to give me estimates based on that report. Once I get that report, I'm going to go thru with a marker & mark out the areas I'm going to "leave alone" and have them provide estimates on just the areas I know need to be repaired which will hopefully bring the cost down to a manageable level.

Travis will NOT be happy with that decision. And I know I'll catch heck from him over it. He's a perfectionist & is completely anal about everything being done "just so." I'm all about "as long as my house doesn't fall down & the basement quits flooding, I'm happy."
