Now we wait for a heavy downpour and see what happens....
T is all kinds of ticked off at me for going this route. He insists that I should just go ahead & have the basement gutted, porch torn off, and front wall rebuilt. And yeah, that may still have to happen but there's about a 50/50 chance that diverting the water will solve the leaking & then that wall can be stabilized from the inside without destroying everything.
And we'd have had to do the trenching regardless even if we were going ahead with all the rest.
My take (and my contractors) is that it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. I'm not losing anything and if it works, it'll save easily somewhere in the vicinity of $20,000 that the other work would cost.
If it doesn't work, I'll have to deal with one more flood down there & he'll be back out here as soon as possible to start the demolition.
***sigh*** I REALLY hope this works....
