I have no explanation for it. But it scared the he** out of me even though I was sitting in a tree carrying a high powered rifle. John was up on the ridge behind me & after it stopped, he (brave man!) came down looking for me and his eyes were as big as dinner plates. If he hadn't come looking, I'd still be sitting in that tree because I was too scared to climb down!!!

Whatever it was, was close enough that I could hear it thrashing branches in the woods across the field from where I was sitting. A few days later, we went over there (both of us heavily armed) and there were trees & branches ripped apart like a bulldozer had gone thru that area.

Scary stuff! And 20'ish years later, I still haven't come up with a rational explanation for what it could have been....
