But before I could get a foot in the shower, my phone started ringing & it was Kate freaking out because Matt had hit a deer.... First tihngs first: Is he okay? Yes. Was Owen with him? No. Is the car okay? Yes. Do you need to call the police? No. Where is the deer? "Right here and I think it's dead!!!!!!!!!"
Long story made short: After getting her calmed down, we ended up retrieving Matt's roadkill and getting it gutted & quartered & in the frig. Only lost the ribs on one side - they were completely caved in & the meat on them was essentially jelly so we just cut them away & tossed them. It was a big old doe - big boned & as fat as can be.
Bambi Bacon Burgers & Canned Venison are back on the menu!!!!!!
Thank goodness this didn't happen yesterday when hubby was in so much pain he could barely move!!!!!! (Seriously, I thought for sure we were going to end up in the ER. Even with prescription pain meds, he was gasping in pain...)
Anyway, my canning has been postponed until we finish processing the deer - we'll work on it a little tonight, a little tomorrow night & hopefully finish up on Saturday (or maybe Sunday if we try to go fishing on Saturday).
But fo rnow I'm gonna go get the shower that's needed a lot more now than it was when I first got up this morning!!!
