The end of an era....

Amid a lot of tears & reminiscing, John donated all of his referee gear to the local soccer assocation. Somewhere in the vicinity of 20 referee jerseys, 5 or 6 pairs of shorts, 5 or 6 pairs of socks, referee duffel, 3 sets of flags, referee organizatino pouch, yellow & red cards, whistles, cold gear, heat gear, jacket, hat.... Everything. Probably close to $1000 worth of gear. He had always planned to go back to reffing when Owen got older but now realizes that even if the cancer doesn't get him, he won't physically be able to do that now. And it just about broke his heart.... (Didn't help any that we got word Friday night that one of young refs who worked with Kate - they represented Kentucky at the MidWest Regional Olympic Development Program about 10 years ago - and had gone on to national level assignments died unexpectedly last week. James was an amazing young man & I can't imagine what his family is going thru now.)
