Friday after dinner, we decided to run to the nearest Shoe Carnival to try to find me another pair of tennis shoes... Since the big truck hadn't been driven in a while, John decided to take it.

Just over the hill from the house, an SUV pulling a trailer ran us into the ditch. That's about normal out there which is why I insist on having an AWD vehicle. So I can get back on the road every time I'm run off of it.

Anyway, no damage. No foul. We cussed a bit & pulled back onto the road. Total time elapsed - maybe 20-30 seconds. If that.

Only to round the next turn to find a HUGE MONSTER TREE TRUNK laying across the entire road. Dust was still rising from where it fell. Y'all it was easily 3' around...

IF WE HADN'T HAD THE SPLIT SECOND DELAY FROM BEING RUN OFF THE ROAD, WE WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY BEEN RIGHT UNDER IT WHEN IT CAME DOWN!!!!!!

John managed to back up (without getting rear-ended which was a miracle) and get turned around to come back to the house while I called the road department to send someone out to clear the road.

We went back out about an hour later & the tree had been cut up & was off to the side.

MEANWHILE, we have a huge dead tree hanging over our master bedroom here at the house. Yeah, if it was up to me, that sucker would have been brought down a long time ago. But it's not on our property... And the neighbor has been stalling having it taken care of. We even offered to pay for it ourselves & he turned us down.

So help me, if it falls on the house, I'm going to sue his a$$!!!!!!
