Saturday, we (me, hubby, T & Meg) canned 103 pints of pears. Probably would have been more but we were getting pretty picky after about 6 hours of peeling, coring, slicing, jarring, filling, lidding & canning and some got pitched that would have otherwise been added to the jars! We celebrated our efforts by a family outing to our favorite Mexican place and then watching the Louisville City soccer game on TV when we got home. (And that center referee needs to be tarred & feathered & then run out of town on a rail!!!!!! I'm usually pretty lenient on refs since we used to have 4 of them in the family but this guy was a complete disgrace to the yellow shirt. If he wasn't being paid off, he's the MOST incompetent referee I've ever seen and that's including 8 & 9 years who just got their certification the weekend before! Off my soapbox now... but I'm still pissed.)
Sunday, T helped John clean out about half of the garage. I'd been griping about it & offering to help for months but T just started doing it & hubby didn't have a whole lotta choice. LOL! It'll take us weeks to get all the trash hauled off. And there's still more stuff that needs to be pitched but at least it's a start! We found parts to cars we haven't owned for over 20 years..... T also helped fill the deer feeder, smoothed out the front yard where they had to dig it all up to fix the sewage pipe, rearranged part of the store room & put the new pears on the shelves (after I washed & dried & labelled all of them). He & Hubby also trimmed a few tree limbs so we can see the facing field better from the living room while I was mopping the kitchen FOUR times trying to get all the pear juice up - and I think there are still a few sticky spots so I'll be mopping again this afternoon.
Today so far, hubby is at work in the living room & I've made another loaf of sourdough sandwich bread, fed the starter, watered all the plants on the deck & front porch, watered the planters in the front yard (and the honeyberries & the newly translplanted hibiscuses), done several loads of laundry, fixed lunch, washed dishes, and done some paperwork.
Oh and I've been attacked twice by hummingbirds. First was an accident. Two were fighting & rounded a pole and slammed into the side of my head. Felt like someone was tossing ping pong balls at me - lol! The second little monster was trying to fight me when I was watering a plant near one of the feeders - hoving around chest level and squeaking & diving at me. I dont' think it appreciated me laughing at it!
I could easily curl up RIGHT NOW and go to sleep but I've still got more laundry to go AND we have to drive to Frankfort when John gets off work to pick up his truck. It's been recalled for the 3rd (or is it 4th) time in less than 2 years....
