Saturday, he was really feeling good so we took the dogs to town with us. Went to the Farmer's Market & then for a walk around the Legion Park. He was still perky when we got home so we loaded up & headed for the Amish area down South. We got all kinds of produce & cheeses, etc. Then stopped at Cracker Barrel for a late lunch as we headed back North. He took a nap while I baked a pina colada cake for T's birthday.
Sunday, T & Meg got here early followed shortely thereafter by Kate & Matt & Owen. Matt got sidetracked along the way though (a BAD gas leak just out the road from us) so T had to go pick up Kate & Owen while Matt supervised the repairs. (Yep, that's part of his new promotion! Just didn't expect his first call out to be on the way to our house!)
Eventually we all got here & hung out together and the guys did a few things for John that he wasn't up to doing himself. Much fun was had. Until Owen decided to grab the throttle on the 4-wheeler he was riding with John and when John had to stomp the brakes because of him, he flew forward & smashed his mouth on the handlebars. The little monster deserved it - he'd been told & told & told & told to keep his hands off the throttle and wouldn't listen - but John still felt bad about him getting hurt.
John has been wiped every since everyone left. And he is in a FOUL mood today. I'm laying low but I feel sorry for the folks having to work with him today!!!!!
Yesterday, I put up about 10# of banannas in the freezer for future bananna bread & smoothies. I also cleaned & laid out a peck of sweet roasting peppers for the freezer as well.
Today, I cleaned & cut up 20# of roma tomatoes & roasted them before using an immersion blender to grind them up until smooth. They're now simmering in a large roaster with spices for a friend's "top secret spaghetti sauce." The smell is HEAVENLY!!!!! I'm going to let it simmer until after summer & then see about getting it jarred up & canned.
For supper, I'll be making stuffed poblano peppers that we picked up in Casey Co. and then tomorrow I'll be making loaves of bananna bread for the freezer with the rest of the bananas we got.
Busy! Busy! Busy!!!!!
