at the Red River Gorge and going up on Half Moon Rock was one of our favorites past times there. I can't even tell you how many times we went up Half Moon - you could jsut sit up there for hours, looking over the world below....

And on several occasions, we went up with friends and rapelled back down - as well as free-climbing back up a chimney on the backside. (That was a quicker way of going up than by the scramble route.)

ANYWAY, I just found these on Youtube and am watching them in disbelief... WHAT THE HECK WERE WE THINKING?!?!?!?! I don't remember the "trail" or the top being so freakin' narrow... Remember, we did all of that with no ropes - just scrambling upward til we got to the top...





Then the same guy (I think) posted a video of rapelling down the same face that we did... And looks like he used the same chimney to climb back up - only he had ropes to assist with the climb, we didn't & climbed it freehanded....





I tell ya, we were NUTS back then!!!!!

p.s. One time we went up Half Moon with a group of friends & there was a group of climbers already up there & they were as drunk as skunks!!!! I'm surprised any of them lived to hike back out...
