John & I were at the oncologist's office at UK. We were in a room waiting for her to shop up when suddenly the lights went off & a voice over a loudspeaker started repeating "Everyone is required to leave the building immediately" over & over.
We, along with everyone else, proceeded to exit the building only to see armed guards sealing the doors behind us. Seems the ENTIRE US MEDICAL SYSTEM WAS CLOSED! Completely & indefinitely. Everything. From doctor's offices to pharmacies to all types of alternative medicine. CLOSED. Maybe even permanently.
Somehow, the dream didn't say how, we managed to contact Dr. Tannir (John's oncologist at MDA) and all he could tell us was "Get to Canada. Go now. Go as fast as you can. That's your only hope of getting the medical care you need."
So we were packing up anything we considered necessities (and yes, the dogs were included - they were loaded into the backseat of the pickup with John driving while I drove the Crosstrek).
The only funny part was us arguing over whether JOhn's electric popcorn popper (one of the Stir Crazy models from the 70's) qualified as a "necessity" or not. I finally got him to leave it.
Just before I woke up from the dream, T had arrived and he was going to drive our old Outback with a trailer behind it to get us to Canada and settled in before flying back home to L'ville.
It was disturbing... With John being so medically fragile due to the cancer, I guess the "what if's" have been wearing on my mind more than I realized. What if America is attacked & we can't travel to Houston? What if war comes to Kentucky? What if a revolution starts? What if supply chains break down & he can't get his meds - or pain killers?
And of course, now I can't get it out of my mind.... :-(
