They're still saying it's supposed to hit 103 degrees here tomorrow. We have an excessive heat watch from noon today through tomorrow night. I heard a cicada buzzing in one of the trees a little while ago. It's a bit early for them, the annual cicadas usually start emerging later in the month. They're probably early because we keep getting these heat domes.
Just the usual chores today and I should try to get to the laundromat later if it's not too oppressive out. I'm running low on clean capri pants and breezy lightweight casual skirts.
Rats aren't our pesky area animals. It's the excess racoons. The local racoon population is too much. The adolescent ones have no fear of humans. They can be horribly aggressive towards the other animals at times. We never had racoons here until the mid 1990s. They're attracted to all the dumpsters associated with the main street businesses and the area schools. Occasionally they will try to root through people's garbage pails looking for food scraps too.
