It's sunny and around 40 degrees heading up to the low 50s. This week is going to be the typical early spring week where the temperatures will see-saw back and forth between milder and cooler. It did get down to the freezing mark last night. My potted plants were happy to get the rain yesterday and today's sun. The ones with baby leaves have more growth. The budding ones have bigger buds. Our irises don't usually bloom until May or early June if it's an especially cold spring. The hyacinth blooms are coming up. No daffodils open yet, but they should soon. These are the earlier bright yellow ones. The pale yellow ones don't appear until April, they're more Eastertime blooms.
I did another Amazon search last night and found a cake holder for $20. Sometimes you have to run several searches at different times so it cycles through the available options differently. But most of them are in that $25 to $35 range for basic plastic cake holders which just seems crazy. I have a tab opened to that particular cake holder. I'll likely order it next week. This week I am more focused on what I should order for my next supermarket delivery I'll put in late week. I'm just waiting on two things from Amazon, bamboo knitting needles that were on sale which will arrive tomorrow and a wooden Easter themed hanging front door decoration that will get here early next week. It features a black and white tuxedo cat that looks like Sam wearing bunny ears with colorful Easter eggs in the background.
Tomorrow is the yard waste pickup so I should pick up in the yard a bit later in the afternoon, more branches and twigs knocked down by all the winter storms we had lying out scattered in our big backyard. Plus there are the last of the leaves that fell off the oaks late December into early January. I'm still tired and achy so yardwork will be piecemeal.
We had more harsh wind gusts yesterday evening with a few more light rainshowers. While I was in the living room watching Antiques Roadshow we suddenly had an especially sharp gust slam against the house making some of the windows rattle. I could hear it slamming against the neighbors' houses and hit hard against the fence belonging to the crazy neighbors. Up in central NY state and New England they had sleet and snow yesterday. Thankfully it's a quiet weather day today.
