We had light rain showers yesterday evening. It stayed mild, 50 degrees most of the evening and was in the upper 40s when I went to bed last night. It's in the 40s now with dark clouds and we're due for steady rain later that could be heavy at times. No more 50 degree days for a while. By later next week we may get snow showers and the nights may get cold enough I will have to bring the plants back in from the side of the house and put them back down the basement. Our January thaw will come to an end. The weather forecasters say this is typically the coldest time of the season we're getting into. It usually is mid February that is the real turning point with the cold temperatures.
The supermarket didn't have the store brand 20 pound bag of bird seed in stock for my home delivery so I had to order a bag from Amazon that will get here tomorrow. I only have bird seed left to feed them through Monday morning so I had to order more right away.
My dried sunflowers in resin dangle earrings that arrived yesterday are cute. Dried flowers and tiny leaves in resin for earrings and necklace pendants seems to be trendy again and you can find them for sale on Amazon and Etsy. Another trend for the year is all things western and I have my eye on some western silver and turquoise earrings on Amazon as well. It's nice to see jewelry trends that are getting away from the tiny minimalist jewelry featuring earrings and necklace pendants so small you can't see someone wearing them unless you're standing right next to the person. I like seeing jewelry trending back to cute and fun again. I'm tired of the millennials' boring minimalism.
i used to do all kinds of crafts. table cloths. shoes. embroidered pictures. doilies after while you get so much of it got to quit. can only give so much to friends. so now when i do the throws for hospital i know they will not remain here and they have a place to go. plus it does not cost anything since i am given yarn
I had been focusing on trying out different mixed media techniques and actually sold a piece on eBay years ago. I had just opened up a store on the Etsy website to sell a few things I made when we got hit by hurricane Sandy and that kinda derailed the whole effort. Etsy is an ultra competitive crafts selling site and you need to make lots of things to sell there or else your items get lost and unnoticed. When I was making beaded jewelry I did sell at a few local craft shows 20+ years ago. But that's hard though because to be successful with a craft jewelry making business you need to be able to afford to sink in a lot of money into a goodly sized jewelry making supplies inventory right off the bat to make lots of different things because you don't know what potential buyers will latch on to. Some things like doing calligraphy were just for fun. But my hands simply can't do calligraphy anymore. It's just rougher now with the progression of the arthritis in my hands. I need to rehab them because I miss being able to do all sorts of crafty things.
It's a quiet day here. The Start tv channel is airing the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life miniseries from 2016 this evening and next Saturday evening which I haven't seen yet so I'll be watching that. At one time we used to take a lot of day trips up into Connecticut so I'm a little familiar with the quirky small town Connecticut life featured in the show.
