My sister did finally drop off a three pack of frozen fuzzy mice for the turtle last night. I defrosted one for her dinner. With no fresh fruit she likes in season it's either a night crawler or a defrosted mouse for her dinner. The Petco in town runs out of her food pretty quickly which is why I used to buy turtle food in addition to the dry cat food fifteen minutes up the highway at the other Petco. She doesn't care for dried mealworms or the turtle food pellets you soak in water for a few minutes anymore. She doesn't care for lettuce either. She's a very finicky reptile.
My sister will be back from her pet/house sitting gig tomorrow night. Oh well, so much for the quiet.
Heidi, I need to get back to my crocheting. I have been neglecting it of late. I have several works in progress going- making a couple more pot holders/trivets, my granny square afghan, and my crazy quilt style afghan which will be a combination of knitted and crocheted pieces stitched together. I was texting with my sister in Virginia yesterday evening and she's still spending a lot of her free time knitting. She's working on a pattern sampler scarf among other projects. She's also currently obsessed with fair aisle knitting and playing around with lace knitting techniques. I used to do lace knitting with the cotton fine crochet cord and sizes one and zero knitting needles.
So I was able to use the county rideshare successfully both to and from the supermarket yesterday afternoon. They are finally getting more drivers because they are now able to use their own cars with magnetic county rideshare signs attached to their front car doors. Before they were so limited since they only have a small number of official rideshare minivans. So they are basically turning it into a county run version of Uber with much lower prices for customers than Uber, except with Uber ridesharing with fellow passengers you don't know is a lower cost option and it's standard for the county program. All my fellow passengers in both directions yesterday were teenagers. The middle school and high school aged kids are big fans of this program. It's how they get around town after school. It's how they get to that sports park up the hill from me where the kids on various school sports teams have their after school practices. In another direction three quarters of a mile away is another park that has a skate park section for the skateboarders and paved paths for the rollerbladers that is also popular with the kids and a frequent rideshare destination. In the mornings and early afternoons they're taking people to and from the town senior center for the activities and hot lunch program.
