Heidi, it's not easy for people to qualify for SNAP. Most are the working poor making minimum wage, plus you have low income seniors and those with life alerting chronic illnesses and disabilities. Mike Johnson's nonsense that the average person on SNAP is either some rich woman driving a luxury car pretending to be poor to milk the system or is a twentysomething aged healthy man who wants to play video games all day is a myth. It's political propaganda meant to berate the working poor, the disabled, and low income seniors by pretending they are in some way all fraudsters. This reminds me of an article I read about your state of Georgia and how the Medicaid work requirements are causing people with disabling medical conditions to lose their insurance because they can't physically meet the work requirements. They interviewed a woman struggling with congestive heart failure trying to find a job, hoping she can actually keep up with it and not get fired since her congestive heart failure is slowly killing her and her health is very poor. She'll just die faster pushing her body too hard. We've gone back to the days of how do you tell when a GOP politician is lying? Their lips move. This administration is an utter failure.

I'm not sure which Starbucks cup you saw advertised. I don't pay attention to Starbucks, nor trends for buying cups like last year's Target Stanley cup craze.

A friend of mine whose husband is a main street small business owner has worked at a handful of schools over the past 30 years as a teacher then a principal and often can't get health insurance for her husband and their two kids who are now in college. Her job insurance typically only covers her. I don't even want to think about what the monthly cost for her husband's and kids' health insurance will go up to January 1st. Some policies for married couples or for parent(s) plus a child or two are now going to cost well over two thousand dollars per month. Who is going to be able to afford this?

We had rain last night. It made it up into the mid 60s this afternoon. It is our last weekend in the 60s for a while. I had put out the hibiscus yesterday and took it in last night. A ladybug spent the night on its leaves. I put the plant back out today in the sun at lunchtime. When I brought it back in the ladybug had flown away by then. It will rain tomorrow with a cold front. Starting Monday the highs will just be in the 40s or low 50s. We'll have our first freeze as well.
