It's sunny and in the low 80s but still feels a bit chilly in the house because it went down into the upper 50s last night.

Started new book.been a while since I read really good book

I haven't opened a book in the last month or so. I have plenty of mysteries waiting for me to read them. But the heat with very high humidity/high dew points this summer made reading unappealing with the whole wilting in the heat thing. I spent my evenings sitting in front of a tower fan watching tv, more focused on tv mystery shows, the walking with dinosaurs series, and the shows about the latest archaeological dig in Pompeii and all the stuff they've learned about life in Pompeii before it was destroyed. I should get back to my books though. I do read a lot more in the colder months since hibernating with a warm blanket and a good book definitely appeals then.

It's a home day here just taking care of the usual stuff. Errands and laundry will be done on the weekend. Since we had the rain I won't need to water outside today. There could be showers on Sunday afternoon or early evening. Hopefully we're getting into a pattern where we'll get rain every so often to stave off another drought.

My sister will be driving up and dropping off her cat on Sunday, then heading out to Long Island to stay at her friend's house. Her friend lived up the block from us when we were kids so they have been friends almost their entire lives. The friend's oldest daughter had a baby about a year and a half ago and lives close by so there is a cute grandson to fuss over. They're way out on the eastern end of Long Island so I'm sure there will be frequent trips to the beaches.
