It was refreshingly cool last night in the mid 60s. It made it up to the upper 80s with reasonable humidity this afternoon. I stopped by Michaels this afternoon, then picked up a few things at the smaller Stop and Shop which is the one closer to me.
Last night I tried sizing up my crochet hook one size larger to get the hexagon granny pattern to look right using that bulky weight yarn, but it didn't look good so I unravelled it. I bought crochet stitch markers at Michaels to see if that helps with trying to get this to look right. It's weird because I took screenshots I saw online of someone who made a hexagon granny using this yarn. Unfortunately it didn't say which size hook she used. I originally tried the size 11 hook since that's the recommended hook size on the yarn's label. So I tried a hook one size larger but didn't have stitch markers. Even though this is a variegated yarn the colors blend into each other very slowly and the yarn is loosely wound so the stitches are blending into each other in an odd way when crocheting in the round. I had no problems crocheting a rectangular piece of single crochet though. It looked just fine.
