We had multiple severe thunderstorm warnings yesterday afternoon, but the damaging storms hit South Jersey. We just had some claps of thunder, a lot of wind and not much rain. It cooled down into the upper 60s last night. Today it's sunny, in the 80s with lower humidity.
In a while I'll be off running errands. The supermarket, Petco, Kohl's. I have $5 rewards Kohl's cash, plus there's a holiday weekend sale and a 20% off your purchase coupon. So I should be able to buy that raspberry colored midi skirt I had my eye on for about $20.
I also have a couple of coupons for the month for Michael's. I have the four pack of large size crochet hooks in the Red Heart cystalites line. But I find it more difficult to crochet with acrylic hooks or knit with acrylic needles in the hot summer months. So I need to pick up an aluminum Susan Bates size L/11 crochet hook for the bulky yarn I'm using. This is a bulk weight variegated yarn from the Michaels Loops and Threads line and trying to work it up as a hexagon granny square looks terrible. The yarn is too bulky for that. So I'm just working it into a large square of single crochet to be a piece in the crazy quilt afghan, but I definitely need to switch from the acrylic hook to a metal one.
No fireworks from the town until Sunday, but since certain types of fireworks are now legal to buy here I expect the young people will go crazy with the fireworks tonight and frighten the poor cat. Between people randomly setting off fireworks all summer, the idiots who ride around in cars with muffler loudeners, cars that crackle and backfire, and the people who illegally ride their dirt bikes on the streets some evenings, Nigel spends the summers being very skittish with the loud noises. He'll be hiding underneath the living room furniture tonight.
