Last night I finally finished the cozy mystery novel I started last month but set aside because of all the different things that kept on popping up. It a hundred pages longer than the typical cozy mystery plus it's easier having time to read in the quieter cold weather months vs the busier warmer time of year. In the winter I average 2-3 books a month.
Today is a basic housework day. No yardwork. It stayed in the 80s last night and the temps started climbing with the dawn. When I drove to the supermarket after PT yesterday a fire truck raced to a shopping center I passed to assist someone overwhelmed by the heat in the parking lot. When I got out of the supermarket they were racing past the store to go assist someone else. Every so often I hear sirens since we live a half mile from two fire houses. They must be busy with people getting sick in the heat with this hot swampy air and needing a ride to the ER for treatment for heat exhaustion. People forget to pace themselves, take it easy and drink enough water. I'm chilling a bunch of bottles of the fruit flavored Hint water in the fridge. Plus we had a chilly spring so this is a drastic temperature change. It got so cool several nights in the past few weeks I was almost contemplating putting the furnace back on since we were going down into the mid 50s for overnight lows. Generally we don't hit the upper 90s to 100 until July either. It's usually the July 4th holiday week that ushers in the hot humid weather.
Heidi, poor Neinna is still in an adjustment period having lost her buddy Pablo just a couple of months ago and having recovered from injuries herself. She's simply taking her time accepting the new pup. Animals struggle with change even more that some humans do.
