It's very hazy because of the Canadian wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere. It went down into the upper 50s last night after hitting 80 yesterday afternoon. Now it's in the upper 60s heading up to the mid 80s later. The roofers are here working on the kitchen bump out roof.
So yesterday I passed by Joann's on my way to my orthopedist appointment and it was sad seeing it shut down with an empty parking lot. Normally the lot was always full of cars, the store filled with crafters. My MRIs didn't indicate any tendon ruptures and the existing tearing is exactly the same as it was in last fall's MRI, so I can currently avoid surgery and just go back to PT for the summer. With the plantar fascitis she recommended foot stretches and for the physical therapists to work on this. This morning I got an appointment confirmation call from my original rheumatologist's office. I see her next Tuesday.
After my doctor appointment yesterday I decided to run into the Hobby Lobby on the highway there and that place was huge, like the size of our Costco, and was mostly home decor. It's shoved in the back of a strip mall next to a Marshall's and I thought the building had two different stores with entrances at opposite directions at first. The sections in the store aren't marked at all and the setup seemed very random so I wound up wandering around a bit before finding the yarn. Their yarn section was basically the same size as Michaels, maybe slightly smaller, which was surprising considering the huge size of the store. The store had shoppers but wasn't crowded. They only had one register open even though there were several cashiers up front.
I have this picture saved I found on online where someone took an image of a sunset on a beach and recreated the colors using the Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn worsted weight yarn. I bought the solid shades of pinks and purples for a future project based originally on yarn colors I already bought from Michael's where it's going to be a crazy quilt style afghan in pinks, purples with a little bit of grey and black (based on the variegated yarn color schemes of several skeins I already have). There is a Hobby Lobby here in my county as well. I went to it years ago but it's much smaller in size. Just mainly craft supplies with
a limited amount of home decor. They only sell their own yarn lines. No Red Heart, Lion brand or Caron yarns.
Michael's carries a limited selection of Red Heart yarn, only in solid colors, and a very limited selection of Caron one pounder skeins mainly in solid colors and only occasionally stocks a variegated skein or two. No ombre colors of Red Heart or Caron at all. Some time I'll have to check out the yarn offerings in the craft sections of the Walmart superstores over in the other county. My county has no Walmart stores at all.
Then I took a different highway home instead of taking the Garden State Parkway so I would pass one of the ShopRite supermarkets I go to on occasion. I was just about out of milk so I got that and a few other things. They did have one bottle of the strawberry Clearly Canadian fruit flavored sparkling spring water but were out of peach. I did snag two more bottles of the raspberry flavor. Some flavors are more difficult to find vs others. I used to drink Clearly Canadian when it first came out in the 1990s, so it's nice having it back in the supermarkets.
Today is just a home day doing basic housework. Plus sorting the laundry to take to the laundromat tomorrow. I'll do the major grocery shop afterwards then. I have to not overdo it with the standing, walking and bending with my left foot and ankle or else it gets rather hurty by the evening. That can also aggravate my left knee because I'm making it work harder to compensate for the weaker ankle. I kinda overdid it yesterday and the day before so my foot and ankle are pretty stiff and sore. I need to take break days where I just stick to basic chores and give my left leg a rest.
Tomorrow is going to be the hottest and most humid day of the week with temps in the 90s so spending part of tomorrow afternoon in an air conditioned laundromat and supermarket is ideal. I'm not going to do yardwork again until the weekend when it's back down in the 70s. Because it hasn't rained since I mowed the lawn I won't need to mow this weekend. We're due for showers Saturday but I can put off mowing until some day next week. One of the older small forsythia bushes in the backyard died over the winter and I need to cut that up and put it in a yard waste pail. We're on about sixth of an acre with a decent sized front yard and larger backyard so there are always yardwork tasks to think about. I cut out some more wisteria vines yesterday after dinner and it's all out in a yard waste pail at the curb but there's more wisteria to cut here and there. We've only had wisteria in this neighborhood for the last 15-20 years. There's a wooded lot along the highway on the south end of town where the wisteria has grown up like trees and it the spring they're filled with the hanging purple flowers. It looks nice in that lot but is a pain in the neck in our yard.
