It's sunny and mild, heading for the low 70s later this afternoon. I had a roofing company here this morning to give an estimate. I'm still waiting to hear back from another company I left a voicemail with and have to try a couple of others to gather a few estimates. It's slow going with the holiday weekend.
The creepy next door neighbors came out to gawk when the roofers were here since they brought out a ladder to take a look see. Everything is fine with the roof itself. It's just replacing the two downspouts and the fascia boards and that small area of soffit board. These neighbors are the weirdos who are incredibly obsessed with my sister and we had the temporary restraining order against them pre-Covid. Now that she's moved back into the house they're starting up with watching us again. How I hate dealing with these people. They watch the neighborhood and have bragged about knowing things about people's lives normal people don't care about like keeping track of who gets pizza or Chinese food delivered to their house and if they have a set pizza night each week. They have no kids or pets and spend their free time preoccupied spying on their neighbors and develop these weird obsessions like telling people they shouldn't have trees or shrubs on their property. Their driveway is on the side by our house so they love to stand out in their driveway alongside our house and loudly gossip about us. They'll pull that garbage if I spend time out in the backyard when they're home, so I need to do yardwork out there after their cars leave, since they both have varying work schedules. Unfortunately it's not like they are gone 9 to 5 Monday through Friday consistently so I can easily know when I can do yardwork back there without dealing with their craziness. They'll literally stand in their driveway right next to the fence and trash talk about me if they see me out there. The husband is on the tall side and their property is upslope from us so he'll rest his chin on the top of the fence and gawk at you if he knows you're out there. We have to keep the curtains and blinds pretty much shut tight at all times on that side of the house because of them and quit grilling in our backyard during the summer.
There was smaller water main break yesterday a block down our street that fortunately didn't effect us at all. They're downhill from us so the big puddles of water stayed by them. It happened in the morning and a repair crew was there all day yesterday until very late last night. It's always something.
Just a home day for me. Tomorrow I'll stop by the supermarket's bakery department for a dessert to have with dinner on Sunday. Nothing fancy for dinner but a chocolate cake or something like that might be nice.
