Since you must start from the middle with this yarn, it has the middle strand sticking out a little bit so it's easy to find. Most of the time I've been able to locate the center strand with Red Heart yarn. I've only had to start from the outer edge a couple of times over the years.

The colors in the picture looked washed out compared to the yarn itself. The first round is in scarlet red, the second is peach, the third is burgundy, the fourth is raspberry, the outer edge is charcoal black.
