how did you break foot

I don't know when this happened exactly. It's a fracture in the ankle bone area but I have had a lot of nasty pain on and off for over a year now, fell twice last year since the arthritis has thrown my balance off. So I had to start using the cane out and about last fall.

The ankle arthritis started progressing more rapidly and the ankle swelling first started getting problematic two years ago, but it wasn't as bad back then. But the very beginnings of arthritis pain in the worse ankle was in the late 1990s when my ankle would throb walking on hilly areas. On and off over the years the ankles and my feet would have flare ups where they would get stiff and my feet would lose the flexibility to bend properly like they were cast out of solid lead and I would have to limp around until the muscles and tendons loosened. Unfortunately when this all started I didn't have health insurance in those days to see specialists.
