Ankle replacement surgery isn't something I'm thinking about at this point. It's actually the tendons that are suffering through damage from the arthritis. Any sort of surgery would be difficult to manage with recovery living in a house with a lot of stairs and the only bathroom is on the second floor of the house. The house is over a hundred years old with a high foundation and taller ceilings. There six steps up to the front porch and with going to the second floor it's 7 steps up to the landing then 8 steps up to the second floor.
