The flood watch yesterday afternoon was premature. We just had short light showers in the afternoon. After dinner I did get to the supermarket but left the house late and didn't get the other shopping errands run because I had to wait and see what would happen with some stupid kid shooting off a ton of fireworks up the street as soon as it got dark. You always have to keep an eye out for fireworks potentially landing in someone's shrubs or trees or on a roof and starting a fire in the neighborhood. The fireworks frightened the poor cats and they hid underneath the dining room table.

When I got home the nighttime rain showers started. We had rain through this morning. It's currently sunny and humid and should hit 80 degrees this afternoon, but we're due for a line of thunderstorms to come through around dinnertime with heavy rain this evening. This is when the actual localized flooding risk is.

I'm waiting for my sister to stop by this afternoon before the rain. The other shopping errands will get pushed back until tomorrow. So it's just a home day here taking care of the typical chores but I have spent some time reading a mystery novel I just started this morning.
