I see both my doctor and his partner at the practice who is a nurse practitioner and is around my age. She's very nice. Yesterday I was treated by the nurse practitioner. The rheumatologist sent their office only the bare minimum of info, and no copy of my bloodwork from there. No mention of the possibility of there being the second form of arthritis. The fact the rheumatologist won't do throughout diagnostic testing was absurd to her and her advice is to change rheumatologists after I have the MRIs done next month.
Their office doesn't know the rheumatologist at all. She only has privileges at the hospital which runs that group medical practice a couple of miles over the county line. But they do know my podiatrist because he also has privileges at the same hospital my primary care
providers are associated with and is part of their physician's network. That hospital is our in-county emergency trauma care center for both adults and children and my podiatrist is also a foot and ankle trauma and reconstructive surgeon so that makes sense. I have to go see my podiatrist and the rheumatologist following the MRIs of my ankles, then afterwards I have to make the switch to a different rheumatologist. My former rheumatologist now only practices further up north in our county, up in the mountains, but the nurse practitioner advises I just make the longer drives up there to see my old rheumatologist again. They know her since she's also part of the same hospital system. They know she's competent at her job.
I may run an errand this afternoon or may put it off until tomorrow. Depends on how tired I feel. I spent time talking on the phone yesterday at dinnertime with my sister from VA. She also thinks I should go back to my old rheumatologist even though it's a bit of a drive to get up there. She's coming back up for the Labor Day weekend. She has that Friday off so it's a four day weekend for her.
