Kohl's is struggling financially but this new concept is a poor business strategy. People are cutting back on non-neccesary item spending in favor of the more practical. Buying a new blouse or pair of pants is far more practical than buying new knickknacks and throw pillows to redecorate the living room. It seems like they're trying to force people to buy more of the clothing and bedding online from their website but if you spend less than $49 you have to pay nearly ten dollars for shipping.
I'm waiting on a package from Amazon. My newly purchased motion detector lights I ordered earlier in the week are indoor rated only, so I needed to put them up attached to the outside of the inner front door, protected from the weather by the glass storm door in front of them. But unfortunately they can't detect motion on the front porch from behind the storm door through the storm door's glass windows. Even freshly washing the storm door's windows inside and out doesn't help. The presence of a sheet of glass totally cancells out the motion detector's ability to function. So I ordered battery operated puck lights that have a remote control with timer settings from Amazon and they're due to be dropped off this afternoon. I can attach them between the inner and outer doors to protect them from the weather and program them to only be on during the night and shut off when the sun rises. I wish they made outdoors rated battery operated motion detector puck lights, but they don't. The outdoor lights are all big and bulky and need to be screwed onto the outside wall or crown moulding around the door. I don't want to do this. So the only solution was to order lights that can function on a timer. This way there's some light on the porch overnight but it's not an obnoxiously blaring amount of light. There's no working light fixture on the porch, so I have been using a battery operated camping lantern as porch light when anyone is going up and down the porch steps in the evenings. Unfortunately there's been some petty thievery in the area lately so it's better to have the porch lit up at night.
Either today or tomorrow I have to stop by the Home Depot. Depends on when the Amazon delivery driver drops off the package. I prefer to be home when it gets delivered. If it's closer to dinnertime I'll go tomorrow. Home Depot closes early Sunday evening plus the closing ceremony of the Olympics will be on after dinner and I want to see that.
