It's sunny and humid. It's well into the 80s now. It's supposed to hit 97 later this afternoon. We have a heat advisory. The cats are all stretched out, and one is napping on the living room floor. The other is on one of the kitchen window sills. Unfortunately there's not much of a breeze for him though. We had a breeze with the rain last night, but most of the time the air is still. I'm chilling water bottles in the fridge for their water dish.
We have plenty of crickets chirping at night, but so far the cicadas aren't out and buzzing yet. There are baby acorns on the oak trees. We have moths, but I haven't seen any of the usual butterflies lately. We had more butterflies in May and June. Thankfully we haven't had spotted lanternflies yet this year. I wonder if the neighborhood birds ate them and their eggs last fall. We had a bunch of the lanternflies last summer and they were a pain. This year there is just an over-abundance of regular houseflies outside. That's actually a problem in various parts of the state.
Just a typical housework day with shopping and laundry later. I need to get to the Home Depot and Petco, but with the heat combined with the weekday traffic, I'll go on the weekend instead since it's supposed to just be in the mid to upper 80s by then.
