We had no rain today or yesterday. Not helpful with the drought situation. The latest drought report still has us as moderate drought conditions. The humidity has gone way down now, thankfully. We're in for a sunny and dry weekend with the lower humidity. I'm glad because the mugginess last night made me sleep fitfully. I'm still watering outside, this time focusing more on plants and shrubs in the front yard. They're out in the sun unlike the potted plants in the side yard which are in partial shade. That poor chestnut tree sapling in our front yard which was badly damaged by stupid kids from the neighborhood middle school last winter is struggling. The leaves look bad. I don't know if it's going to survive. It doesn't help that school now has a summer program for boys basketball in the mornings and these kids are walking past the house to go home at lunchtime. I hope none of them start vandalizing more of our plants. Complaining to the school administration doesn't help. The principal is a jerk who doesn't care about what these kids get up to with trespassing on people's property, getting into trouble. Ironically one of our neighbors is a retired police officer, but he and his wife don't pay attention to the fact these kids run up their driveway into their yard. Not very observant for a former cop. It's a shame he doesn't scold them over their antics. This afternoon a family friend stopped by for a while and we wound up just yakking away about various things. Other than that it's just same old, same old with the housework.
