It was already in the low 80s first thing this morning when I shut up all the windows to keep the worst of the heat at bay. It's in the mid 90s now. It's supposed to only go down to the mid to upper 70s overnight. Tomorrow will be the worst of the heat. This weather makes me exhausted. I wound up taking a long nap this afternoon. I'm hoping late week when it goes back down to the 80s for the afternoon highs, the weather people are right about us having overnight lows in the upper 60s by then. Really what we need is a night or two or three with temps in the upper 50s to cool everything down.

I didn't get to the laundromat last night, instead I did some of the basement reorganizing and tossed a few more bags of stuff out for this morning's garbage pickup. I'm finishing up stage one of decluttering and reorganizing down there. I still have to sort through a bunch of paperwork that's now in the dining room. I have utility workers coming soon and the basement disorganization is embarrassing. Later this week the gas and electric company is hooking up the new street gas line to our line at the curb. After the do that they'll drill a hole through the foundation to move the gas meter from the basement to just outside the house from where it is now.

I have to also get the water company water meter installer back. The new radio frequency water meter they installed in May doesn't transmit properly so that needs to be fixed or replaced. We get billed by them quarterly so I had to pay an estimated bill with a fifteen dollar credit last month. The problem is they estimate using old water bills from years past when more family members lived here. It's very different now with it just being me and the pets here full time. My one sister still hasn't moved back in and the other sister visits less often now that our mom is gone. I don't use a garden hose. I hand water the outside plants using a bucket and everything gets laundered at the laundromat so I'm not exactly using a ton of water.

For some stupid reason my sister bagged up sets of curtains our mom had hand sewn decades ago along with purchased curtains which used to be in a very large fabric storage cube on the floor of the linen closet and put them down the basement. Everything is in still fine shape but smells summer basement musty. Ugh! These things air dry so I'm going to have to launder them piecemeal over time. She also put two big chinelle blankets down there as well. No logic whatsoever.

Hopefully the temps will start to lower now since it's later after because I really should run to the supermarket quickly before dinner. I'm out of birdseed and several other things. My sister will be stopping by this evening.
