It went up into the low 90s this afternoon but cooled down to the mid 80s when the clouds moved in. When that happened I opened up the windows because it was 85 and stuffy in the house. At least there had been a breeze this afternoon. It's now in the upper 70s and muggy and will stay that way all night. Unfortunately there's no breeze anymore. It will be hotter tomorrow in the mid to upper 90s so I'll have to shut the windows again. But we're supposed to get a cold front coming through in the evening with rain that will hopefully break the heatwave.
I picked up a few things at the supermarket but didn't go to the laundromat.
When I was outside at dusk I saw a lot of lightning bugs in the front yard. Back when west nile virus became an issue here all the chemicals they sprayed to kill the mosquitoes killed a lot of innocent insects and bugs- beetles, bees, lightning bugs, butterflies and moths. They are finally starting to make a comeback.
