It's sunny and in the low 50s but has been very windy since last night. The winds picked up after the rain stopped. We're still getting very strong gusts. I'll have to drop off all the recycling next week, instead I'm just planning to go grocery shopping in a while now that the road crew is gone. There are actually several crews working on several local streets simultaneously, including one of the main roads in my neighborhood, so there are detours involved when they're in action.
The pipelines they are installing is flexible tubing that looks just like really fat garden hose tubing complete with a stripe running down it. This is the natural gas line. After they complete installing in 'x' number of streets everyone will get a letter in the mail about appointment blocks where they will have a road crew link the new pipeline to people's home gas lines. You need to be home for this since they temporarily shut the gas off to your home at the meter. Ours is down the basement. They're also planning to move the gas meters outside for everyone. You're already required to have the electric meters outside now, and they're doing the same with the gas. Some time they will install more water lines. All these new lines are being installed as part of infrastructure storm preparedness plans put into place following Hurricane Sandy.
