Yesterday was my doctor's appointment. My arthritis is all aggressive Lyme OA. So there's not much that can be done about it. She wants me to upgrade to better arch support inserts for my shoes, try using the Voltaren ointment for the ankle pain. She gave me a referral for the podiatrist down the hall from her so I need to set up an appointment with him. Monday I go back to have X-rays taken. My next appointment with her is in two weeks and I'm going to ask for a PT/OT referral. Afterwards I went to a supermarket nearby that has a nice bakery department for some sweet comfort food. They have tasty cherry turnovers. I also called AARP United Healthcare to shut down my mom's supplemental health insurance and part D prescription drug benefit.
Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 92. It's a bit too painful to take flowers out to the cemetery today so I'm going to wait until my sister from VA comes to visit and we can get a nice bouquet of flowers to take then. Instead I'm going out this afternoon to treat myself to a few nice things. It's not a good day to just be home all day with no distractions, or to deal with family paperwork. I have Kohl's cash so I'm going to stop by there to pick out something nice. I have gift cards to Barnes and Noble I got for my birthday back in January so I'll pick up a few cozy mysteries. I used to take my mom shopping at both stores since my entire family enjoyed shopping. We used to joke about everyone having the 'shopping gene'.
