"lots of folks get a horse that needs help to gait well, rather than having a good gait barefooted."
I've posted that I bought a walking horse from Bill MacCready. When I went to look at him he was in Bill's pasture and when he saw us he run walked over to us. He was bare footed and never missed a beat. I told Bill, "I'll take hum!" and he said, "Don't you want to ride him?" I told him that I'd seen enough. He said, "OK" so I wrote him a check and told him that I'd pick him up later. His run walk was smooth and fast even unshod. His canter was rough but I seldom had to canter him, his run walk was so fast. I just used him as a gallery horse, I had a big tough Walker that I scouted/handled from. Then I got a Missouri Fox Trotter and that ended the walking horses, I just wanted Foxtrotters from then on. Harry
