Give you an idea of when I started -my first bird dog was a grdau of Jungle out of a Gunsmoke - FC Baker's Paladel bitch. I got her from Bill Boatman. B/W, she had some puppy/derby wins but she had that "Elhew flag" so I didn't run her much as a shooting dog. IIRC, she had one SD third place on race. Unfortunately, she put that flag into her pups. Too bad because she was a good running dog that could find birds. I hunted her for years, killed a lot of quail over her, even a few pheasants and grouse. I had housebroken her as a puppy so she lived in my house all her life; she only lived in a kennel when pro Joe Cannon broke her. Harry PS First night after she had pups, she slept with them. After that she was back sleeping beside my bed in her usual spot. I'd hear her go check on the pups a couple of times a night and feed them but she always returned. Harry
