The first time I heard that "any old dog"expression it finished up as "except a lost sob".

I've never seen a dog place that was picked up but I have seen a lost dog place a time or two. I always thought the unwritten rule was that the judges had to see the dog at pickup but I've seen judges ignore that and place a dog that wasn't picked up for an hour or more, so imho that dog was lost. Go figure!
